“Healing Through Word, Color, and Breath”
Rasheedah Sharif, widely known as Lady Ra, is an author, artist, and alternative therapist whose work centers on healing through word, color, and breath.
With more than 30 years of experience as an educator, counselor, speaker, and creative practitioner, she specializes in trauma-informed approaches that offer realistic, everyday strategies for coping, self-discovery, and renewal.
Rasheedah holds a Master of Science in Addiction Counseling and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, grounding her creative and therapeutic work in both academic training and lived experience.
She is the author of four transformative books—Don’t Come Down from the Chinaberry Tree, Somewhere in a Rainbow, SWEA Tree Color Meditation, and Amber Dawn—which collectively serve as resources for healing, wellness, and positive life change.
Drawing from her background in substance-abuse counseling and community education, Lady Ra facilitates motivational and healing conversations that emphasize self-realization, self-worth, healthy habits, and purposeful direction.
Throughout her career, Rasheedah Sharif has served in multiple counties across New Jersey, Florida, and Georgia, including Essex, Hamilton, Jefferson, Leon, Gadsden, Hillsborough, Pinellas, Fulton, and Decatur Counties.
Her professional roles have included Substance-Abuse Counselor and Motivational Speaker with organizations such as the New Jersey Youth Corps, Jefferson County Women’s Prison, Phoenix House, the Department of Recreation, the Drug Abuse Comprehensive Coordinating Office, and Public and Private School Systems.
In addition to her written work, Lady Ra is a visual artist whose nature-inspired sculptures feature hand-crafted wire trees adorned with crystals and gemstones, reflecting vitality, balance, and connection to the natural world.
She is also a Tai Chi practitioner and the creator of a color-breathing meditation practice and app that integrates mindfulness, movement, and visual healing.
Rasheedah Sharif prefers to be addressed as Lady Ra.
She is the mother of eight children; four daughters and four sons, and grandmother of nineteen.
Lady Ra finds joy in nature, travel, art walks, live entertainment, dancing, baking, sitting quiet and Tai Chi.
